Welcome to the Front Lines

They've got to be kidding! This is the law code Virginia troopers are ticketing truckers with regarding the two hour rest area parking time limit. Well my brother and sister truckers...this will be coming to and end real fast.

Have some good news from a friendly source within OOIDA. This Thursday the Commonwealth Transportation Board will be reviewing, and discussing, the changing or removal of the rest area parking time limit policy. Mr. Caldwell is apparently correct in his statement this is a policy...not a law. The law code the troopers are using pretty much helps finalize that understanding. I can also say this with certainty...this meeting Thursday on the rest area parking time limit was brought about by Mr. Kostelnik's inquiry to Virginia's gov't due to our petition's assignment last week. I mainly state that because of the coincidence of this being an issue all of a sudden after last weeks conversation I had with Mr. Kostelnik. We knew just the idea of initiating a proceeding to remove Virginia's federal funding would generate such an action.

The end is near my friends...victory one way or the other.

(edited insert)
It was announced today a decision on the two hour parking time limit will be announced tomorrow...Wednesday, May 20, 2009.

The Light at the end is starting to show. You must feel like "Rocky". I could just feel all the excitement ....I feel it too. JB must be doing a dance out on the road :)

This is great news. It only goes to show that "We the People" can bring about change. Congratulations for all your hard work and dedication to this issue and it appears all of your efforts will finally pay off.

Thanks y'all. It's not over quite yet...but I do believe the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train. (pun intended)
Y'all know what I'm poking at?....

The issue of keeping these rest areas open is still very much a concern. I get the feeling Virginia will attempt to keep selected ones open...as if to show us they're listening...while still closing the ones they need out of the way for the rail.
