Trucker’s from across the U.S. and Canada are going to protest against the recently passed speed limiter law legislation. As of January 1st, 2009, all heavy trucks will require a speed limiting devise on the vehicle which limits their maximum speed to 105 km/h. The Ontario government made this decision without waiting for studies that were being done on the subject. The study’s were completed a mere few weeks after they passed the legislation and the results were not in favor of this law.
What will this do for the Ontario drivers?

Traffic back-ups by slower moving vehicles, unsafe conditions by slower moving vehicles on our highways, higher risks of accidents from vehicles trying to overtake these slower moving vehicles.
Already there are other states and provinces watching to see what is being done here. Eventually there will be speed limiters being placed on vehicles North America wide on all vehicles, cars included. We have to speak out and stand up against this legislation.
Driver’s of the United States, write to your State Department and your External Affairs representative. Tell them how this will affect you and limit you. Tell them you are not happy with these restrictions being placed on you. If you can, attend the protest in Ontario on December 19th, 2008.
